Adria Benjamin, Viola

Adria Benjamin performs her own solo piece based on the traditional Ashkenazic chant, Kol Nidre.

From this event's press release:
This program presents musical arrangements of the traditional Ashkenazic setting (the tune familiar to most North American Jews of European heritage), traditional Sephardic (Spanish and North African) settings of Kol Nidre, and other prayers of the Jewish High Holidays from Persia to Portugal. The choral music is performed by the Choir of Congegation Shearith Israel, the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue, under the direction of choirmaster Leon Hyman. Rabbi Ira L. Rohde, cantor of Shearith Israel, chants the Sephardic and Ashkenazic versions of Kol Nidre, and Cantor Marc Hazan chants the Moroccan version of the prayer. The Flux Quartet performs John Zorns "Kol Nidre," and violist Adria Benjamin performs a solo piece based on the traditional chant.
